삶이 낯설어서 힘들다며 자랐으면서 이제는 제발 삶이 죽을 때까지 낯설기를 바란다.

“Not a pre-laid yellow brick road
— but a path that I pave myself, word by word, stroke by stroke."

From Debut Book (2025):The Path Toward My Star 『나의 별로 가는 길』

"누군가 깔아놓은 노란 벽돌길을 따라가는 게 아니요,
나의 글 하나, 그림 한 점으로 스스로 깔아가는 길"

The Passing You, The Watching Me.
Perhaps this is how we meet…

지나가는 당신과 지켜보는 나,
우리는 이렇게 만나게 되는지도 모르겠다.

Self Portrait, Pastel on Paper, 49×49 cm, 2013
A colorful, abstract pastel portrait of a woman with short hair, holding a makeup brush near her eye, created with soft pastel strokes and textured details.

Raised in wartime Iraq. Educated at Yonsei and UC Berkeley. Twenty years navigating the architecture of global organizations — as a consultant at Accenture, a director at Johnson & Johnson, and a chief operating officer in biotech — before following the thread she had been deferring.

Jaye 지영 윤 (Jaye Jiyoung Yoon) writes and draws from that accumulated life. Her debut essay collection The Path Toward My Star (2025) was awarded the 12th Maewon Supil Literary Award — recognized by the jury for its 내적독립성, the inner independence that animates her prose: not a rejection of the world she came from — but a patient, unhurried turn toward the one she was always moving toward.
